Let's face it...I'm hooked! Yes, if you know me then you are probably thinking, "Here she goes again!" I tend to get on certain fixes and become obsessed about whatever it is I'm fixed on at the moment. I work with a girl who has been talking about coupon-ing here lately. She told me of a 5 item purchase she made and before tax with her coupons she ended up paying $.53....That was intriguing!
Aaron and I are nowhere near made of money, especially as of late, so I starting thinking that if I could maybe get into this then maybe I could save our family a good bit of money....
Can you guess how much this grocery bill was before coupons and in store savings?? It's an unreal amount of money in my opinion....Take note though that I do have two big thick organic steaks..I also have boneless skinless chicken breast so that tends to bump the bill also. Drum roll please....Before all my savings my total came to $74.87! Unreal!!
Well I went prepared. I had my shopping list (which I'm not normally inclined to do)...I grabbed every thing on my list that I had prepared to purchase along with my pre-cut coupons....Unfortunately I've just started this so I don't have a huge collection of coupons yet...I then grabbed the few things I knew I needed and headed to the register. After all the savings-drum roll please....I walked out paying $39.73! For all you folks who don't feel like doing the math, that's a little over $35 in savings! WOW!
That also doesn't include the pizza that was out of stock. I ended up getting a rain check on it. The great thing about the pizza is-after all of my savings I have for it, it's actually going to be free! Yes, a $7.00 pizza to feed my family for free!
Okay, yes, maybe I'm slightly obsessed....But how can you not be when you save that much money!?
For any of you who are interesting in how I did it you need to visit Southernsavers.com
It's highly recommended!
I know this might sound crazy but you look really familiar to me, plus I saw that you mentioned southernsavers here in SC where I live. Do we know each other? Feel free to send me an email, I didn't see anywhere where you had an email listed or I would have sent this by email.

Yay! I'm so proud of you!!
ReplyDeleteCoupons have saved me a lot of money over the years. I don't use them near as much as I used to when I first started couponing (I was obsessive like you!) but I do still use them when I can - I don't buy the Sunday paper anymore, but there are tons of printable coupons out there that I use.
ReplyDeleteI love Southern Savers too - especially for Publix and CVS deals. I know you're like me and you like organic items, so I thought you might like to know about http://www.organicdeals.com/
I lucked out this week - a Kroger near where I live is closing and they've marked a bunch of their items half off - I got several bags of organic coffee for about 3 bucks a bag - not sure why that was so exciting to me, but it was!
Wow...that's pretty awesome! Isn't it fun to get a deal!?
ReplyDeleteI got really into couponing last year, and there's something so FUN about seeing those savings, isn't there?! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI love couponing!! I save so much money, but I will go check out Southern Savers to see any tips they might have to help me save more. I'm following from the Finding Friends Friday Blog Hop. I'd love for you to stop by!

I think I need some in-person training on couponing from someone, because I've never managed that kind of savings. You totally ROCK!
ReplyDeleteIt would be lovely to save like that but I think I want a pro shopper/saver to just do it for me!
