Chopping Wood the Old Fashioned Way

Who needs a big fancy expensive wood chopper?? Who needs a man on the side of the road selling already chopped wood?? Who needs to go to Publix to purchase their wood when you can get it for free!? How nice it is to have a husband who enjoys roaming the woods searching for down trees. A husband who enjoys showing up at your kids daycare to clear a tree that has fallen. And a husband who enjoys relieving stress by going out back alone and chopping wood until his little heart is content....All the while it helps provide a nice warm home...

  3. Fab Photo!

My dad used to chop and trim trees. (In Ohio)

We don't really have many trees in this area of California, but no need for a fireplace either..LOL

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog & Comment. Hope to see you again!

  5. Nice story you paired with the photo! It does seem like a great way to release stress and other emotions we tend to ball up inside. On that note, where's my axe?! I need to go chop some too! ;-)

  6. My husband and I were just talking about this process 2 days ago b/c I saw a wood burning stove outside someone's house. I'd never seen one put outside before...meeting you from todays hop. Stop by undeserving grace when you get a chance

  8. Ahh to have a young strong back! Lol! Believe it or not, I used to do the splitting when I was a teenager. My parents had a woodstove.

My husband and I now have a stove of our own to heat our home. And I have to confess to going soft. I love our log splitter to death! Lol!

I grew up with a wood burning stove and have many memories of wood chopping and wood hauling.
