Healthy Eating

We do really try to eat healthy in this house. No that is not a carrot my son is eating but rather a cheese puff. Nutritional advantages of a cheese puff:
Cheese: We're providing him with calcium
Egg: Egg must be in puffs to make it puff, right!? Back to the point at hand...Eggs provide protein
and because it is a puff rather than a crunch they are light at hand and therefor save more room in the belly for other foods....
Pretty good logic, I think!
With all this being said though, life is so different the second time around as a mom. Our oldest never even had a piece of candy until he was probably three. No, we haven't given the baby candy yet at 13 months....but our oldest also never ate cookies, cheese puffs, chips (which was this ones first food other than baby food...yes, a BBQ chip handed over by the older brother....) My how things change....

  1. Rofl about the "nutritional value" of a cheese puff...My kids thnk I am the funniest mother in the world for not letting them have processed food... my 6 year old jsut beamed at me this afternoon at a birthday party as she shugged her pop.. I think the look in her eye was,..."Try to stop me!"

  7. Ha! Just wait till you have #3! J/K Kinda.... ;)Yeah cheese puffs are a treat around here and my kids go nuts! I actually found some all natural ones at our store that are really good so then I don't feel as bad.

  8. I totally agree with you! It's not easy to keep #2 to the schedule as we kept #1.. where there was no candy, no junk until he was almost 4. Unfortunately with the 2nd one, they see and want what the older one is having and most of the time it is just so much easier to just give in. =) And yes, when you put it that way, the nutritional value totally makes sense! =)
